I have Six 19 x 24″ templates in the works of various poses, and physiques – for application to character designs; as featured in Composition Book freehand ink drawings/prismacolors( in the Atelier> Composition Book> Characters). (Any costumes, or characters featured anywhere on the pages of this website are concepts that I can redraw using templates. )
Distinct stages: 1) writing down, or quickly sketching the character appearance/costume 2) Finding references to study, and/or make composites ( combine) 3) spending 8 hours in the studio drawing from reference. 4) Redrawing the study, using informed parts that apply to the character 5) Doing a series of character concept art ( repeating steps 1 -5 . 6) Choosing the design I like best, and redrawing it( various medium) – and/or, inking, digital coloring. 7) Chosen illustration, is referenced when drawing the character in panels of a comicbook sequence 9) Rough layouts can also be redrawn ( as in steps 1-7) 8) Templates of sequences, can be used, with various concept art applied.
Congo Jongo: Mainstream vs. Lurid – *
*The following is a Commentary/Preface addressing luridphobic haters. Not directed at Subscribers – For possible use on a social media Account profile page :
“For those who love the characters of Congo Jongo, and are upset at seeing them in lurid pre-code scenes, and don’t know what to do with the outrage – the question might occur:
“ How could the same artist/writer (create or) allow such scenes befall the beloved characters”.
If you want some sort of reason; or scapegoat; to preserve assumptions you entertained about such; I offer some food for thought.
Your outrage, demonstrates concern for the humanity in the Congo Jongo soap opera; as the characters may share relatable concerns – their stories may be important to you, because of it.
The NSFW, lurid Pre-code horror, scenes of Lurid Max, might evoke, defensiveness, violation, rage at bad things happening to good people – perhaps, from the unpleasant; horrific, ect,.. images.
It’s redundant to cite: ‘ it’s fantasy art ‘ , get over it, get over yourself- you didn’t wake up yesterday.
Social media encourages people to type opinionated ‘comments’, whether sincerely, or disingenuously, – glorifying views; like a social video game (scrabble/combo) getting more points for certain ’tiles’.
It’s not activism, it’s exhibitionism – albeit, a diluted, less revealing, text based form.
It’s okay to be outraged, its a good sign you have a healthy conscience. And, you can rest assured, those who come to Congo Jongo first through the latter, have some opportunity to have their thoughts provoked in an alternate way. They get a chance to see the characters featured in the lurid Pre-code horror comics, humanized, and think about the import of the disparity between objectification in the latter, and how they relate to them in the former.
New art accounts – for various titles
I took some time, to set up accounts for various comicbook titles and brands described ( making 16 accounts, – alternate spellings for titles: with “-” and without; and 6 new emails; for various social media )- securing usernames of books I’m planning to publish, and names/titles I plan to advertise. [ When I have a significant amount of content prepared, and posted: I can give more info]
I was surprised at Patreon’s increased percentages taken from the earnings of artists, reminds me how much I appreciate having a website, and direct subscribers ( who aren’t paying %5, %8, or more to Patreon: which, in my experience, will hassle, and shut down pages, for nudity, and gore; as though it were contraband. Seems so silly, but their standards are apparently PG rated; it’s hard to fathom how amateur, freelance art is expected to be interesting and profitable if the niche subject matters, are off limits by Patreon; requiring their weekly approval.
I suppose they are trying to be a form of facebook, and take advantage of relatives of artists, posting only ‘safe for work’ art: landscapes/portraits/ and mainstream amateur work.)
Thanks for Subscribing to Lurid Max Website
I want to thank everyone whose contributions make this website possible. With every mainstream book/page – the lurid pre-code horror content, will be featured exclusively here at Luridmax.com.
