First Commission:

I have found references for a fan-art commission I have begun preparing for.

Gathered: Video game screenshots, package art and illustrations. I picked out poses; from my repertoire, that are already studied; to redraw; and from a two day thorough search; sorting, labeling, and planning:

1) a 3 image sequence: Standing, Pose A, Pose A.5

2) I layed out 2 pages of a sequence; prelude to Pose A; ( similar to Dystopia, )

3. I scripted:

a) a back story that includes fan-art scenes to the comicbook world, using some original concepts and lore; so that they are part of the comicbook universe .

b) I arranged references, for improving each panel

Potential: With the references and script, I can make a full 22 page comic book featuring any fan-art character ( ie,.. such as the ones listed in ‘fan art’ menu). Beginning with the one I am currently working on, and will show progress as it comes.

Fan-art Comic Sequence Template

The concept is designed, and every frame and panel scripted**. Beginning with a nude template: then changing elements: costume, physique, face, expression, variants for each panel pose and background.

Digital Coloring/ pencil/ink ‘finished’ Style

I perused images for 2 days, and have an idea how I want the finished pages to look: Minimalist ink outline, bold contrast of background shadow, graphic pencil tones showing, and color layered over. [ and use the digital software to make variants. Creating illustrations with depth, ( background paintings or drawings of detail, layered in the background), and recognizable locations (like The castle of Grey skull in He-man, or the Cat’s Lair in Thundercats, or any recognizable location in a video game) – which is a matter of designing lore, naming locations, making a map, drawing and labeling the places; so that they have a D & D, or video game level, practical functionality.

**[ something I didn’t do much with Apocrypha material – those comics were odd lengths, many unfinished, and only worked on them for one day. Or at most every weekend for a couple months. Nearly every piece of the Apocrypha was done in the evening of a single day ]

“Congo Jongo”, is the most ambitious comicbook project I have undertaken to date. [ as is the mainstream Dystopia] So, it is really satisfying to see the project develop, and share it with you.

Thanks for your interest and kind patronage!
