They were pieces of my body of work, and taken together, increase appreciation for all aspects of my portfolio of work (including traditional mainstream art, landscapes and portraits). A friend of mine from highschool, once told me, I should always keep these pieces, ( not censoring myself); rather than just showcasing the politically correct pieces.
*In fact, if I had friends visiting, and if they asked what was in a certain drawer, my hand would come down, with reflexive speed and power, to keep them from opening the drawer. I remember , I had a girl I was dating, ( trying to get from friend zone, to sex ) come to my room, finally, and she was excited, and examining everything in my room.
That which is Hidden
I recall her trying to look through my chest of drawers, with various stacks of art, and how awkward it felt, to be more concerned about hiding the lurid art, than enjoy the moment. That was in the years around highschool. In latter years, I have found women in their mid twenties, and thirties, the older they get, the more they are not really concerned about lurid art. I mean, I don’t feel judged. I only learned to hide it, because early on, this type of art, would be a source for which a younger sibling would half-heartedly threaten to blackmail me, in response to me playfully blackmailing them ( over a nude image in a comicbook they had purchased). In general, people outside of my family, would be impressed with the lurid art as much as the mainstream; and often, I would get passionate requests from big tough guys, 3 grades higher, who had girlfriends, and were having sex earlier than most kids. I learned there were people who sought out this kind of art, and were willing to pay top dollar for it; because it was hard to find artists who created it, and rare to find the quality, of some of my pieces ( because of the speed, and time I would sometimes bring to bear, to put into a piece).
Vo ( actress 3: ” What?! These are the pictures of women, .. that have their heads cut off.” vo: Who made these? )
