(Sat April 25 2020) Covid -19 anecdotes–

Likely tomorrow – I, can prioritize, preparing the interior photos, ( they need to be cropped) – and post the composition book layout. [ I’d like to post them now – but staying up past midnight – would sap tomorrow’s studio work potential. ]

So the composition book comic layout makes sense as whole, I may post the entire 12+ pages in sequence (sometime tomorrow, ). Rather than a 6 per week limit*.

*Currently, I like, working in the studio 5 full days, posting twice ( for approx 3 hrs each) – I personally, want to see completed work (at this point- over a year), and enjoy working on it primarily.

**( generally spread, apart about equal, to give me a couple days to focus on the studio art, for several days in a row. – That’s how I always completed the inked/colored pieces.   Overtime, my goal is to revisit as much of the Apocrypha, as I can fathom, being improved on, by redrawing.  )

Honoring Legends

Some may prefer it exclusively, as some aficionados seem to. The art is remarkable, – a very idealized archie/anime style for faces, , with observed anatomy, that is impressive. But my work outside of Lurid Max, is a paen to sci fi, fantasy, . and as an adult, I see no reason not to make the work lurid Pre-code horror as well. I have done 2 decades worth of SFW already. After I lay some body of work that has lurid Pre code horror supplemental content, then I may move on to other genres: but I can concurrently do a variety of genres- in a handful of days, I can create an image.

In and of itself, his stories seem to be without any redemptive, lesson, inspiring characters, little beyond tongue in cheek, esoteric gallows humor, and masturbatory dialogue. What Dolcett created, was as mesmerizing as a trainwreck, and has lasting profound literary nuances, and wizardry of professional art showmanship – never before had there been seen, such meticulously informed anatomical illustrations of scenes, vast pages, devoted to the subject.

Story Telling

I am gratified to see the appreciation and interest from current subscribers. I also had a great conversation with a visiting attorney for domestic violence – She sees battered women, daily. Who has known me for years, and I described the LuridMax Lurid Pre -code horror mission statement, and story/comics – and it was really meaningful, that this powerful woman, appreciates the purpose, views the expression, and endeavor as healthy, and potentially beneficial.

   What was interesting about the conversation was the domestic violence attorney, approves of art, with violence and nudity, as a healthy form of expression – and the value of ‘Pre-Code’  tenets,  such as the punishment of crimes,  and the ‘legalization’  (analogy to marijuana legalization),  reducing the dominant influence, of unregulated, unconscionable presentations of similar nudity and horror,  that lack the nuance of moral context ( consequences) – as a positive effect of my mission statement/ essays, and comicbook story scripts – that don’t water down the pre code horror elements, but make the entire endeavor higher clarity.

( Later on, I can devote some more time to the subject of how, outside of the lopsided perception, created by the large internet shadow cast by censorship/haters/trolls/ , normal, professionals, not just men, but actually women as well, see Lurid Max as a meaningful, and legitimate genre, with a overall positive purpose that doesn’t encourage real life violence toward women; and without any stigma for viewers, supporters, fans, subscribers and artist/writer content creators.

The bottom line, is: Does it cause crime? And the answer is no. In fact, it’s designed to prevent crime. Important for the content creator to hear in person from those who still work in the field of domestic abuse

( She daily handles cases of violence against women, in real life, representing, women who have been severely injured by men without self control).

That’s the crux. Personal self control. The difference between, an Eli Roth style, interest in horror, ( productive, and kind/intelligent person, who harmlessly is ) spectator of the lurid and gruesome- and a man who actually harms women; in the real world, has almost nothing, to do with art. And almost always to do, with women who seek abusive men, and provoke the types that would eventually hit them, and a law enforcement system, that doesn’t prioritize the socio-economically disadvantaged. Woman can leave, and men can be locked up. When a woman gets hurt by the man, it’s often seen coming by those close to her.

I recently had a long conversation with a former member of a powerful, crime family

(influential, wealthy; ie bribed DA, sheriff, ect: made 100,000’s in the first day in position; a lifestyle, that eventually he wanted out of – for the sake of his wife, and new family)

who described how he warned, a gorgeous girlfriend, not to go back to get her things, from the ex boyfriend’s house – because he was on substances, and considered dangerous. She was remarkably beautiful, he emphasized. She insisted, she would just go quickly to gather her things – while the ex was in the house.

She went in, and as she gathered her things, he came up to her, and expressed, if he couldn’t have her , no one could. She was beaten to death, the ex took a bat, and hit her on the head repeatedly, till the floor went down 2 inches, and there was nothing to recognize. This is the real world, major instance of man hurting woman; and the precipitant, isn’t a comicbook, or a man alone on his computer, who is a fan of horror comics – Not an intangible, subjective, long winded opinion, of a convoluted, abstract theory.

It’s generally, a man, in a relationship, who is unchecked, and addled by substances, and escalating unhealthy emotions toward a specific individual whom they are close to. Who anticipated the result, but was just as reckless, in putting themselves in harm’s way. A series of circumstances, and attitude of disrespect, and hatred toward women.

That is very different, from appreciation of beautiful women, and viewing horror scenes within their context for what they are – seeing the gruesome, and experiencing it as gruesome. Being able to discern the difference between fantasy art, stories, and relationships in the society. Generally, most children are capable of telling the difference.

A healthy response, is to sense the gravity of the situation – fully appreciate the atrocities of historical events, and anticipate consequences; empathize for the suffering, barbarity, of the draconian old punishments. Thus, presenting it as such, is not an attitude of disrespect toward woman. That exposes the fallacy of the use of the term misogynic* to any artistic depictions of women in a horror scene;

*popular with ‘pop- psychology’, and male-feminist rants (from weak, guys, trying to act tough, for their conceived notion of women, from their abstract imagination, and inferences, based on the voiced complaints of the women around them, in the media; chiming in, like a subordinant female, following the lead of the dominant female, to gain preferential consideration)

The overt respectful presentation of the persona of female characters, defines the attitude and relationship to women.

As a spectator of horror scenes, their is a sharing of the scene; what is evoked is unique to each individual. Art does nothing, it is the viewer who sees it. The actions of the viewer, are always the responsibility of the viewer. The artist is not responsible for the behavior of others, as regards their art, anymore, than any media, or form of communication, wherein, someone expresses a horror scene.

Covid -19 Anecdotes

My family is pulling together, it’s a heartwarming beautiful thing to witness – as some who stopped speaking, reconcile, in light of the concerns for each other’s safety.

Neighbors are seen having picnics in their yards. People are walking daily, exploring new streets; and greeting strangers, in my rural residential area. A family member in a northern clime, mentioned a neighbor whose mother’s boyfriend, quarantined himself in a tent in their front yard.

Attorney’s I know, reported the covid-19 quarantine, is resulting in an increase of divorces and domestic abuse – the ‘cabin fever ‘ many are experiencing as a result of the covid-19 quarantine.

Members of my immediate family had an unexpected duty. I helped, by intervening on behalf of family members, in a sensitive case, that arose, requiring my physical presence. And thoughtful counseling, resulting in peacemaking- over property, ownership, law, and preventing destructive ‘acting out’ – (ie, divorce, dramatic, relocation, property, wills).

I am definitely pushing toward more embellished work. The current event I mentioned, is largely resolved ( after my intervention of 16 hours of counseling, losing sleep on two days – somewhat including today – but I wanted to be timely in my post). I will try to make the supplemental post I had planned for today ( arbitrarily, spread out in the week), at the soonest convenience.

[ without revealing too much confidential personal info – I am caring for, and using tactful means, to respectfully, prevent an elderly, loved one, from harming themselves or anyone else – upon being legally chastised, in a misunderstanding/dispute, involving 5 figures, and multiple accounts. Both parties are loved ones, and can be sensibly led to a positive course, with minimal intervention ( that simply requires patience, and – thus far the bulk of 2 days, and part of a 3rd evening. )
