May 25 Mon: One of the senators of my state, replied ( in an email, this afternoon), assuring me, he would send my claim info to my state’s governor, and ensure my claim is addressed. Apologizing for the frustration, and saying he would get to work on forwarding the info to the governor, as soon as I reply. ( I replied, an hour later, as soon as I saw the email).
This restored some of my expectation from the government. If I do get the PUA benefits I am eligible for ( any time in the next 2 months), it should be no problem to win Crime Suspenstories #22 between $2,500 – $3,000. ( there is another CGC 4.5 at mycomicshop – Lone Star Comics, in Texas’s online store; consignment $3,200, B.O. Several weeks ago, I saw a 4.5 sell at mycomicshop’s auction for around $2,300.
I honestly didn’t expect any meaningful response from my state’s senators. So this experience was very encouraging.
I worked in the studio drawing all day ( the first of 5 scans I posted). Listening to video game cover musicians, on you tube, – ( Toxic Eternity, Family Jules, TRG; and various others) in the bkg. The bar is pretty high, for video game soundtracks, with fulltime musicians, using fully equipped home studios, to mix, produce, top quality soundtracks.
My soundtracks, are more along the line of a) impromptu, idea, note taking. b) using equipment from the 90’s, and visualizing a soundtrack that is like the pixelated 8 bit, 16 bit, and 64 bit games. I would like to eventually, compose vocals that suit the scene, story, characters, and can be sung by voice actresses; but I would wait until I have a track, with a quality percussion, and melodies that would complement vocals. Currently, I’ve recorded instrumentals to post, that can serve as flavor to the html game pages; as a rough demo of the game idea; which organizes the illustration tasks; combining narrative, dialogue, soundtrack, and the finished colored art; to link to other pages.
The general atmosphere of interactions with people in the family and my neighbors, is pulling together to help each other; setting petty differences aside. It’s a drastic difference, especially, between people that might have been feuding over insignificant perceived slights.
Maybe the raw id of a thirty year old, with superb line work, facial expression, and melodrama. Professional quality: it’s chief remarkable aspect: art that is ‘so good’ it elevates the low brow stories being presented: so in a way it is transformative, and beautiful. Contrary to the loving attitude of the 60’s, (reacted to by the rationality of the 80’s, gritty, realism – cynicism at a peak – since the late seventies, moving from cheesy happiness, to a rebellion of anger; expressing other emotions: rage popular in the 90’s).
I really like those GGA Jungle ( Jumbo – Sheena ) covers – and the panels seem to have everything that isn’t in mainstream comics. Every panel, seems to be a great, informed pose of aesthetically idealized, fit muscular women (unlike the Kate Moss – heroin look: 1990 – 1999, ie Calvin Klein ads. Which seemed to influence artists style of drawing physique proportions, in the time when I first began collecting comics as a teenager )
I think combining aspects of Pre -Code Horror with GGA, would be worth studying, and applying to new artwork.
I looked through Lurid Max DA notifications from present, to Oct 27 2019. Alot more favorites, and watchers*. I may develop the images that got the most favorites first. It would be nice, to eventually post inked colored versions. I discovered a phenomenally realistic illustrator, who uses color , and expressions well, with gore featured ( although specific to dolcett ). Raising the bar for color and facial differentiation ( art can be so competitive). Since I have painted, including portraits, and landscapes, I am not daunted; but very impressed with how the gore is portrayed. There is quite a range; some cartoon, and flat, one color; and some very specific; some are invented – some based on medical illustrations and reference diagrams. Sometimes, the combination makes it look cartoony, and less horror. Or vice versa. The aforementioned artist’s portrayal was on par with the impact of seeing hi-res ( texture modded ) Skyrim, up close ( move object). Worth studying.
*I have learned to check DA watchers for suspicious account activity. a) made in the past year with, no favorites of my art; and absence of comments that are specifically appreciative or about the genre. When I find watchers that haven’t favorite a single piece from Lurid Max, and haven’t commented on any art – or even more suspicious – haven’t favorited any art– are watching only me and a couple others ( from my list of watchers) and have no further activity, beyond the day joining ( instantly watching my page and doing nothing else since) I block it.
( this has prevent the troll-saboteur from getting live notifications when I update the page, since the year two campaign.) Effectively preventing him from interrupting my use of the Lurid Max page.
I would like to detail the feet, hands, arm muscle ( do a supplemental study), – study a middle eastern background, supporting cast. Variants with full nudity, a costume, costume variations, different characters, faces ethnicity, facial expressions, physique proportions, ect,. And medium variations: color pencil, watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, pencil, ink and digital. I could spend 3 months on a single template. But, for now, its most efficient, to develop studies, and original concepts. When I have finished character illustrations, ect,. then when I set about to make a 19 x 24 illustration; I can use original characters, costumes, backgrounds, and supporting cast.
Because there is a pre-code horror element, that adds the additional factor, of anatomy, for gore, stylized, variations. Starting with the most challenging – the anatomically detailed cross sections found in quality manga.
