Mon Mar 3 2020 – I spoke to a neighbor, who is a fireman ( slightly younger than I ), while walking my large wolf dog. Fewer people are on the street these days – and even fewer speak ; so it was memorable, when I had a conversation (at the stop sign, through his car window; early in the morning). He felt the covid -19 would be less of a concern in several months. The other firefighters, view it mostly like the flu; the biggest concern is giving it to the elderly. Otherwise, the firemen/paramedics, are not scared the world is going to end – but takes seriously the effect it is having on people’s livelyhood, and ability to buy things they need.
I called a relative in the nursing home; it was encouraging to hear, that precautions have been taken for the elderly residents ( 60’s to nineties). At the facility, they don’t eat in the communal cafeteria; they eat in their rooms, and aren’t allowed to walk past the porch, and have restrictions in the hallway.
For U.S. citizens, to get the assistance grant, you need to have filed taxes for 2018; the deadline has been extended several months.
