Word From the Creator – Day One
Phase II begins. Website Construction.
Before I officially launch – announce the site – I want to keep editing it for a week or more. Expect alot of updates to the site over the next week. I will put the new original characters, story lines, templates exclusively on this site for subscribers only.
I have alot of creative options for the look and navigation of this site. I am pleased with it, and look forward to working on it. Scans of vintage comics I own, artwork on separately designed pages. I will update the page with remasters; as time permits; ( Most require editing).
Nostalgia in the Pre-Code Horror Adult comic genre has steadily grown in recent years. Lurid Max offers a rarefied, endangered variety. Lurid/ Pre-Code Horror Comicbooks. The Lurid Max Apocrypha makes available a huge cache of art I never showed anyone! ( There are literally of drawings, still to post.) I was in the process of archiving my 20-year old comicbook collection -buying art references; vintage on ebay – and noticed the similarity between the Apocrypha and Lurid Pre-Code art of the Golden Age.
Few works were as devoted to creative/professional presentation of Lurid Pre-Code Horror content as the comics/pulp magazines of the 40’s – 70’s. In the 80’s, realism became the standard. I have looked at this genre – on/off occasionally – for decades; without contributing to avoid social repercussions. Hate from non-fans has no parallel in the mainstream genres. There is no tangible gain by Not publishing it – only loss by having never shared it.
I simply want to share the quality/ and creative context that I feel nostalgia for; at present. When I encounter suppression –
I don’t bow to internet terrorists ( masquerading as crusaders ) hate/shaming a long established genre, it’s an attention whoring farce; by men without women. It motivates me more, to develop a 100% legal genre- largely supplanted by amateur guro- into creative, interesting, and higher quality products: comicbook art, illustrations, traditional paintings, digital art and visual novels.
Creating digital books, and promoting them over the internet is a sterile, sedentary/time- consuming task. Subscribers kind comments, thoughtful feedback, and interest means the world. I sincerely appreciate all the contributions that made the Lurid Max website happen! Anticipate a New Wave of Pre-Code Inspired Comicbooks! Keep checking back weekly for the Latest Updates! Thanks for Subscribing – your Continued Interest Is a Pre-Code Renaissance!
