The Lurid Max team is dedicated to creating modern Lurid Pre-Code Horror products, that Glorify the beauty of strong women; whether in life or imaginary horror. The focal point is beautiful strong women. Dimensions of both the antagonists and protagonists are developed, and juxtaposed against the enduring force of nature.

All life is precious – animal, woman and man. Watching tragedies, war atrocities, remind us of how blessed we are to not be thus endangered and deprived. The sight of Horror, Crime and Punishment, makes such things unappealing. Images depicting violence, are ultimately protective of life, evoking a grounding awareness ; we are most aware of how precious life is when it is threatened, or taken by powers out of anyone’s control – like nature.

Lurid Max is leaving in omitted scenes, from the romance of historical war conquests that are usually glossed over. Every nation in recorded history, has a simple sentence to describe how they came to be; a handful of words, to account for thousands massacred.

Suppress the patriotic, dehumanizing propaganda that enables new generations to participate in war: Genocide, gendercide. Suppress war – Not the consequences of it, or artistic depictions of it – let it be a reminder. The value of consequences, as a teacher is limited, when the result is hidden. Moral indignation generated selectively at the transgressions of ‘enemies’, is a hypocrisy required for the other side’s victory, to be more than simply a massacre.

Introducing the Team

The Lurid Max team includes two attorneys, a vast studio fully equipped for our chief penciller/inker.

We have a part-time advertiser/ part-time webpage designer who assists. A retired military veteran and expert programmer who contributes concepts, stories,and characters; in addition to running the social platforms advertising Lurid Max art.

The stories are written by various sponsors, including a bodyguard/ martial artist; A musician and singer/songwriter; Agricultural expert; Female highschool teacher; Female bouncer; Female Personal chef.

The contributions of 8 people ( 4 men, 4 women) make up the Lurid Max creative family. The efforts of the team, include the writings of a novelist/essay-writer and jurisprudent-journalist (featured anonymously) are credited under the pen-name Lurid Max.

These are all friends of the chief penciler/inker. The specific scope of this project, is the goal of making 3 graphic novels in the genre of Lurid Pre-Code Horror – in styles of legendary comicbook artists from Golden Age to Present.

Digital coloring will be done by a hired colorist.

Why?

To make poignant statements about tolerance, racial profiling, hate crimes and striving to be our best selves, rather than being quick to demonize other groups for minor differences in idealogy, custom and taste. Various ethnicities, historical dramas of genocide and gendercide – documented against their cultures, are depicted in historical fiction/fantasy.

War ceases to be glorified, when atrocities are seen for what they are; people cannot separate the image of horror, cannot dehumanize the opponent that has stories, like ours, and victims that are unarguably precious. Who decided kids are not able to learn from tv/comics, the same lessons life teaches by natural consequences? When kids see realistic characters pounding, attacking each other with oversize weapons, get back up again fine – then goes and tries the move on his kid sibling- is it a surprise?

They didn’t expect injury, paralysis or death, since all tv/ video games for their age show cartoon violence. Explain to me the benefit of censorship in these cases; is it not deception, and misinformation? Spare kids the shock and unpleasant reality of the consequences of violence, war, and they have less reason to be averse to it. Lurid Max art, at best, communicates, what may leave a lasting impact: the consequences of violence, toward women specifically.

At Lurid Max , we are well aware, some people will have a strong response, to images of beautiful things destroyed. Portray victims as anything less than the ones we love most, leaves room to rationalize destroying ‘them’ as a lesser group. When fighting is more deleterious than ideals we profess defending; doctrines, beliefs or allegiances we are loyal to have no provision for mercy, forgiveness and nurturing; love is absent, it is no-good.

Images of war, death, dead bodies, man or woman – don’t glorify violence. They are a cautionary tale, against them. Where is the glory in war when the fairer sex die by the sword as collateral damage? When men die by bullets, no one bats an eye. Will the same result, if all sexes are truly equal, and the female image associated with war?

In the process of acquiring their nation. New generations sing patriotically, before participating in another genocide – while pampered citizens argue over violent images disturbing the constant effervescence they feel entitled to sustain. When the collective prime-directive is: ‘ look away from the suffering of others’ – to maintain guiltless hedonism, as a full-time pursuit; the ‘luxury’ of selective ignorance becomes law

Every people who builds their mansions on the graves of another; every generation, social, class and race that expires untimely by cruel man-made schemes; is a loved one lost; for another man’s profit. Dreams, souvenirs, taken for granted, deteriorate, one day are irrevocably gone; forgotten. As are the crimes of war. Hidden to conceal their shame, not to prevent it’s repetition.

That which is Hidden

There is a tool that enables young men to inundate themselves, anonymously – without supervision, or chastisement- images with women in violent scenes and a masturbatory/ unconscionable narrative, that is unnecessary for their purpose; but strips away the consequences, and, leaves only the destruction, and presents it as prelude to ejaculation.

With Lurid Max, there is no censorship for similar violence, but the unconscionable narrative is replaced with a human one, and this humanizing effort, can mitigate the worst to fear from the growing amateur/guro fap community, which is being fed apples with razor blades. Lurid Pre-Code Horror was a long established genre, for the juxtaposition of Eros and Thanatos. A forbidden ‘apple’; an acquired visual taste; in others unappealing, or disgusting. For who this message may reach, it is provided, as a service.

Self Appointed Moral Watch Dogs, can put their heads in the sand; see no evil, and seek to prevent others; who may go to the darkest places to find what is denied them. Like kids in an overly strict home, whose suppressive environment, results in them running away, from their well-meaning caretakers, directly to the unregulated den of wolves. Where the gateway to promiscuous sex, lethal drugs, gangs, sex offenders, thieves, rapists and liars offers no mercy.

Paraphrasing John Denver’s speech at the PMRC senate Hearings – I feel this message has great relevance for the present sociopolitical zeitgeist of intolerance for anything that doesn’t inspire perpetual elation.

That which is hidden becomes most fascinating. That which is denied most interesting. That which is undesirable, generally proves to be unfurthering. This process should not and cannot be stifled. Alot of time is wasted trying to find that which is hidden from us. This is a waste, our ever-growing society of diverse perspectives, cannot afford. The place to teach our kids morals is with the parents or teachers whose job it is to protect impressionable youth from mature content. When a self-appointed moral watch dog, or government seeks to remove or prohibit a form of expression, from all people, for the fears of one groups’- it is suppression; and a democratic free society will not tolerate it.
