I rewatched* ‘ The Red Sonja‘ (1985) movie – ‘Brigitte Nielsen” (6 ‘ 1″). Recalling how I saw it at a birthday party, at a friend’s house when I was in middle school. It was several of us boys, and the gratuitous scenes showing off Brigitte, in the skimpy Red Sonja costume were moments we collectively ‘noticed’, but most didn’t mention.
Seeing it again, I began to appreciate the plot, and other characters ( recognizing the young Billy Reyes Jr, as the child Prince, a serious career martial-artist) and their youthfulness. It was a good feeling – the attitudes and values of a different time- a nostalgic touchstone ( Red Sonja is iconic). Sad, to think how fleeting youthful charm/ beauty and strength are, but interesting how a decade or two of someone’s prime, can leave an impression on the multitudes of children these actors may never know or see.
( sort of – peripheral vision, on my pc screen, to the left of my reference )
