Updates
Wed Mar 18 2020 –
Uploaded 10 animation frames to Animation Studio*. Recent developments : learning Camera, Social media prep for Zaydimar. Recorded 3 more sound tracks.
* more than 10 remain to post. If you save in a folder, you can click through them – until I ’embellish’, and test animations in CSP ( with raster later background; then additional figures; then additional main figures; and extended aftermath; and then series of main figures; and then dialogue, inserted dialogue scenes; and re-embellish for a trailer test).
In the past week: Completed a (time-consuming) major social media task***** involving 4 platforms* and learning how to use my camera** some. Recorded 3 more music tracks. I think, I will develop the music for about another week before uploading a track. Sound files can be time consuming to listen to, and re-listen*** to . To save you and myself time – and devote the most of energy to getting all the tasks done – I might post a soundtrack, after I have spliced it to fit a narrative: with option for the music track by itself, and link to studio edits, for those interested****
***** ( which I netted great reference material, and a plan for getting the best out of launching Zaydimar on Kick starter ect)
****[ -Rather than feature them by themselves as content. Cause, honestly, nothing about the music track is ‘lurid pre code horror’ – it’s part of the game file, when completed, but by itself, not inherently ‘content’ for subscribers ( I don’t want to waste time, boring subscribers, with hours of keyboard edits, at the outset – resulting in not listening to the best quality final edits. ? Once I have practiced splicing, and making multiple tracks ( like an 8 track ) using audacity, then I will have a better idea what kind of compositions I can work toward – and feature.?)
*( thousands of potential viewers)
**( 448 pages of instructions – ideally, I master the 3 lens, and manual focus settings – for depth of field control – for the optimal 6th scale photos ets – and stop motion short films ( eventually: after I do some inked colored new IP for Clandestine subscribers) )
***( especially if only a few changes are made)
Foreword – I composed these myself. Writing music is a work in progress – allows for many variations. I will begin with general themes, brainstorms (loose free playing). From themes I repeat, I can develop more polished, and ideally arranged and timed melodies and orchestration. Long segments, may eventually become streamlined – others embellished; and themes may be worked on for longer than they appear in the game ( ie, many recordings of dirge, or a particular key, riff, or mood ( tempo/dynamics).
These are not considered complete pieces. This is where I will post work as I record it. Updates, will include revisions, additions. I am starting now, because even for 14 quality tracks, the best result can benefit from a month ( per track) of daily rehearsal, composing, arrangement variations, listening to while drawing and revision. Even after I do the best I can, there will be critics, ( I enjoy music, so the reward is inherent )- so I approach this knowing it is a humble effort, and that not everyone can be pleased. But hopefully something someone will appreciate; if not only I.
The beginning themes are suspenseful pursuit, epic marching, funeral dirge, and Marche Slave ( Tchaikovsky). The application envisioned, are background music for a trailer ( accompanied by the words of the Scheherazade’s Paradigm logline II 300 words – after it is spliced, and Zaydimar I).
Renpy Visual Novel
OUTLINE of Game Building
Things remaining for the 1st main wave of ‘intellectual’, tasks, to coordinate for the visual game.
Story
1. Scripting, complete 1st (intersecting) story-arcs:
Audio
2. Getting them voiced.
3. Splicing dialogue.
4. Putting them into Renpy: ( along with the visuals)
Visuals
I. Character designs:
Stage 1. templates on variety of physiques
2. detailing pencil
3. inking
4. coloring
II. Key scenes
III. Interlinking scenes
IV. Weaving subplots

2. grief

3.rage
4. punishment
5. retribution
6. justice
V. General scenes
1. Mouth moving dialogue
2. movement
a. sequences
b. animations
3. action
a.combat
b. interacting with object
c. emotional expressions
d. romance
1. kissing
2. sex scenes
e. recreation
1. playing sports
2. outdoor ( hunting , fishing)
VI. Maps
VII. Titles & Logos.
For me, the easiest thing is to draw. So, getting the scripts completed ( voiced), game mapped out (all tasks), audio ( soundtrack, sfx), sequences( animation frames), Map (concept design: to determine background paintings), is the most efficient way to get all the tasks accomplished.
Honoring Legends
It is rare and really impressive, when an artist, can maintain proportion, of multiple figures, to create a scene with over 8 characters. historically 77 people were guillotined, on Thermidor*, the day Robiespierre and his loyalists, Jacobins, were declared outlaws, and executed; written as the largest mass guillotining during the French Revolution. These numbers don’t convey the difference, as much as a hieroglyph would – where the more important figures are drawn larger to emphasize their significance. In most introductory historical education, the most turbulent, and pivotal moments of history, are given little detail, leaving the question in the readers mind why.
Story Telling
*** if I do decide to get a day job and quickly increase my funds, to hire a plethora of actresses, at top rates, and for full broadcast rights, – I can get lot more scripts read. Ideally, I can go the route of promoting Zaydimar, and get the art, up – I really don’t advertise Lurid Max heavily, since all my new work, I am preparing as a separate brand. Hopefully, when I put out art under a different brand, I can get an influx of subscribers, and fund all the scripts I make, with an array of top rated actresses. But, it is good, that I have a chance to improve the scripts, and write more concisely, while thinking of word counts, at first. There is power to a concise phrase, that lengthy meandering repetition, cannot compare.
*Making Renpy games is simple – and the content overlaps with comicbook art illustration style storytelling – with the addition of soundeffects**.
Voice Over Actresses
When I get time in the next 2 weeks – now that I spent a week, doing technical tasks- and catch up studio work ( really want to get something inked and colored), the next goal is to get some actresses to read more maps, menus, character interaction dialogue, intro monologue, and the response lines for the Logline II full script; and Zaydimar II ( which is written, but I want it to be formatted, edited, and made into a professional screenplay, with extensive vocal directions, and to voice act record it myself – and provide images, and soundtrack, before hiring the actress: which seems to take about 3 or 4 days. So likely not this week, but the week after, I can get the scripts remaining to have a First episode of Zaydimar roughed out, to get started on the panels, visual novel, and product ( for the trailer ) – inked, full color work.
Adaptations
But for my original new characters, and stories, I am prudent enough, to make the effort, give them a chance to develop organically with the viewers, as independent entities, with the addition of lurid pre code horror, just like profanity or nudity: an omittable factor, that doesn’t take away from the story.
Gratitude
Thanks so much for your kind and dedicated support and interest that encourages me to do the best work I can in this special Pre-Code Renaissance – this has been the best online art sharing experience I have ever had – Thanks to you!
